Summer Fun
July 2007
I don't think we will ever lose the
rhythm established early in life of having summers off. Remember the
days when school would let out and summer was expected to be a time to
do whatever could not be done during the school year? That early
experience established an internal pattern that continues in most of us
to this day. When summer arrives, schedules change and we expect to
kick back and take life easier.
Not a bad plan…when it works! In an effort to take advantage of
the summer days, a new schedule is made and soon the days are filled
with an array of activities. Vacations, activities for children, yard
work, plans for the fall are to be made…just about anything and
everything gets put into our “kick back” schedule. But
still the internal pattern is there and we struggle to find time for
re-creation.
I hope the summer does in fact provide each of us with significant
opportunities to become rejuvenated. Let me encourage you to enjoy this
time as much as you can. Let me also encourage you to not neglect to
worship. If you are in another area, attend worship. When at
home…attend worship. Consistency in worship is a vital part of
our re-creation.
So, in the hope of seeing you soon and celebrating the wonders of our God, be at peace.
David
